An American Feminist


Gloria Steinem is an American feminist, political activist, journalist, and leading feminist since the mid-20th century. She has written about 10 books all on the focus of feminism. She is seen as the worlds most famous feminist. Gloria was a fighter and wouldn’t let the words of others get in her way of proving a point.

Feminist Majority Organization

The feminist Majority organization’s  mission is to advance non-violence and women's power, and equality,. The Feminist Majority Foundation is a cutting edge organization dedicated to women's equality, and non-violence.The feminist majority organization did research to empower women. The organization believes that feminists - both women and men,are the majority, but this majority must be empowered. 

Feminsit Activist

Gloria Steinem, and other feminist activists started a take-over on the Ladies Home Journal, saying that the magazine only covered sterotypical house keeping of women and not womens rights. She soon realized the value of women in the eyes of magazine’s and wanted to make a difference. She realized that they degraded women on the magazines that had partially naked women, and she said  “pornography involves no equal power or mutuality" (Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions) . Expressing that she didn't like the fact that these women were being used as candy on the top of a magazine.
